Tweddle Engineering appoints new Managing Director

Tweddle Engineering are excited to announce the appointment of Joe Watson as Managing Director. Tweddle Engineering is a leading provider of bespoke machinery who focus heavily on the supply of treatment equipment and pressure vessels to the timber preservation market. Joe will continue to be based at the company’s head office at Kirkbride, Cumbria and commented on his new role “I am delighted at the opportunity  to lead a strong team of people and focus on growing the business. There are many innovative developments we are currently undertaking which put us in a really strong position in the timber preservation market, I am really excited to be working on these and seeing them go to market.”

Having worked at Tweddle Engineering for almost 14 years, Joe brings a strong engineering and business development skill-set to the position of Managing Director gained from many years’ experience in the engineering and timber industries.

Derek Tweddle, the former Managing Director is still heavily involved with the business as he takes on his new position as Owner/Director. Derek’s new position will see him more heavily involved in design at the Cumbrian firm, which is what set him apart from other fabrication companies when he started the business over 30 years ago. Derek commented that “internally we have had some realignment in the business. This realignment will enable us to innovate with greater speed and efficiency, future-proof the businesses and improve the speed in which we can undertake new projects. Joe’s new role is part of the realignment and we are looking forward to what the future for Tweddle Engineering and its associated brands hold”

Tweddle Engineering is already part way through a major expansion at their site, alongside this they are having a real push in recruitment too. The firm are looking to take on Project Managers, Design Engineers and skilled Fabricator Welders, with more roles planned in the coming months. Joe commented “We are continually looking at ways we can improve and grow the business. We are keen to hear from those experienced in project management and fabrication to really strengthen our already skilled team.”
